    Proposed quantal 2° cone spectral sensitivities: log L2(l) or log, log M2(l) or log and log S2(l) or log; quantal 2° luminosity function: log V2*(l); quantal 10° cone spectral sensitivities: log L10(l) or log, log M10(l) or log and log S10(l) or log; photopigment optical densities: log, log and log; and the lens and 2° macular pigment density spectra:and .  To convert quantal units to energy units add log(l) and renormalize.  To obtain the 10° macular spectrum, multiply the 2° one by 0.2714.

    The cone spectral sensitivities and the luminosity function have been normalized to unity peaks, which were estimated from the 5-nm values by polynomial interpolation (except in the case of V2*(l), which has a slight undulation at peak and was normalized at 545 nm).

    The cone fundamentals were calculated using the Stiles & Burch 10° CMFs with =0.010600 for S; =0.168926 and =8.265895 for M and =2.846201 and =11.092490 for L (see here for more information).  For further details about the long-wavelength S-cone extension after 520 nm, see Stockman, Sharpe & Fach (1999).  Stockman, Sharpe & Fach (1999) were unable to measure S-cone spectral sensitivity data after 615 nm, after which S(l) is so small that it can reasonably, for most purposes, be set to zero. The photopigment optical density spectra were calculated using standard formulae assuming peak photopigment optical densities of 0.40 for S2(l), and 0.50 for L2(l) and M2(l) and the tabulated lens and macular pigment densities for 2° (see above).
